Al and del
In Spanish, you never say de el. Instead, these words are combined together into del.
Estamos cerca del café ahora.We are close to the cafe now.
Similarly, a and el are always combined together into al.
Quiero ir al aeropuerto en la mañana.I want to go to the airport in the morning.
But de and a don't combine with la, los, or las.
Estamos cerca de la calle.
We are close to the street.
